A Legacy of Service and Giving

Bohemian Foundation was established in 2001 by Pat Stryker, a philanthropist recognized for her vision and inspiration.

Pat is the granddaughter of Homer Stryker, an orthopedic surgeon who invented and patented medical devices and subsequently founded the global company now known as Stryker Corporation. Pat inherited a concern for others from her grandfather, from her maternal grandparents who were educational missionaries in China, and from her mother, who committed herself to service.

Inspired by her family’s legacy of caring for community and charitable giving, Pat created Bohemian Foundation to improve the lives of individuals and families, locally and around the world.

The Foundation works to impact communities through its responsive grantmaking programs and special initiatives. The Foundation includes four program areas: Community Programs, Music Programs, Civic Programs, and Global Programs.

Since its inception, Bohemian Foundation has awarded grants to local, national, and global nonprofits that support various causes including supporting youth; promoting economic stability; building vibrant communities; providing opportunities and enrichment through music; promoting access to education; alleviating poverty; improving public health; addressing enviromental challenges; and strengthening democracy.
